Last week, I read a post on Coloradolady's Blog about The Toy Society. I joined the Society right away. I made a handmade toy from a free pattern I found at their site, and now I will leave it on the streets for someone to find. They have other patterns on the website if you don't have any ideas of your own. My finished toy is a Scottie Dog, and I created him in the traditional black, with embellishments that I had at home here.
It could not be said any better, so in words borrowed from Coloradolady's posting, "In a world of such uncertainty and so much turmoil, you just never know how finding something unexpected can give you a bit of hope and encouragement at just the right time. A simple toy, and an idea has changed and brought comfort to so many lives. But don't take my word for it, see for yourself. You did a fantastic job on your little scottie dog! I have looked the toy society over and I'm still not sure how it works. I know that someone like you would make something and leave it somewhere for someone to find but I don't really understand the rest. I think I'm just having one of my gray hair moments! lol I would like to do this but I'm not sure what I will be able to make. I'm also thinking about trying to keep some kind of food items in my car for when I run upon people along the side of the road who have those signs that they are hungry. I really don't see that many here in WV but they are at certain places at times.
