Mischief of Rats - Newest Line of Note Cards!

I don't usually post more than one time each day, but I'm excited to announce my newest line of blank note cards - it's entitled "Mischief", and features the worlds' cutest rats! Sadie and Daisy (their 'stage names'!) are very photogenic, and love to pose! Click on the picture to check out their listing - it's great!

If anyone knows me, they are aware of my love of nature and all things fur-bearing! I enjoy photographing animals, and ratties are no exception! They present a challenge, as their interest level is fleeting, and in a new environment they cannot be bribed with food to behave!

In my short time of caring for them, Sadie and Daisy have taught me quite a bit. Ratties are very clean - they constantly groom themselves and their cage mates. They love chicken bones! When leftovers are delivered to their door, they graciously reach through the entryway to grasp whatever is handed to them, rarely turning down any morsel. They pray before AND after a meal, clasping their little hannies together first; then they wash, and dive in to the food with all fingers a-flying! They can be greedy, not caring to share. They prefer to take the food, quick hide it, then come back for another handout before their cage mate can take it first! Funny little creatures!

All the items used in their photo shoots are cleaned and disinfected after each use, and are only for stage props. No health risks here, since Ratties are sometimes looked down on as the lowest of the low. These girls are living the life of luxury, they get housekeeping daily, bubble baths, and have their own towels for fluff drying. No need for a blow-dry, as they dry quickly on their own! After they are done primping, they allow themselves to be transported to their specially prepared 'set', where they go through the motions of positioning themselves so I can obtain the highest quality photos for their line of note cards.

I hope you enjoyed today's post, and please click on the picture above to see the new listing in my etsy shop!

I have had many pet rats!

Few people realize how sweet and good "fancy" rats are. They are not like mice at all. Mice will bite, but I have never been bitten by a rat. I had "pearls" and they were just beautiful. Intelligent, too. Sadly, their lifespan is too short even with good care.

Gertie and Thelma sure are pretty!

Too cute...the notecards are adorable!
Catching up on older posts brings me to a question of where in Illinois do you have family anywhere near Joliet?

These are just too cute. I have a DIL who's Momma had a large rat, he reminded me of the Rat in Charlotte's Web. He was extremely clean and friendly.
Love the cards.

Your rats are adorable. We've had so many over the years, and their lifetimes are WAY to short... Don't know if I told you or Maya that... Maybe both of you. Senior moment! OC learned to tolerate them, but she made some really funny faces when they would come up to her and lick her whiskers! Hysterical. Took a bit of training though, because corgis have a tendency to snatch things that move fast. So IF you choose to introduce your two types of furlings, take care.

I love your new cards. What a cute idea!

That makes me want to go get some pet rats.
SERIOUSLY! Just not at the moment! Right now I just got some new baby chicks that have to live inside till our weather permits them to go out!
