You Are Here!

Here are a few vintage style signs I thought were sort of neat. The one above is something I would like to tack up for people to see when they drive up the lane to my house! Imagine the thoughts that would roll through their minds!

Some folks asked where I find my pictures. I have a pretty good collection of old photos that I sort through from time to time, and I enjoy doing color corrections on them, removing wrinkles, stains and torn edges. Some things I find on the web, like old time greeting cards and such that were created long before copyrights came into being, or were expired. And then, there are also the sites that offer free graphics that may not be sold since they are offered free.

One of these days I will locate a collection of old photos and cabinet cards I have stashed away - some of them were relatives that lived in Poland long long ago - I recall some entire families sitting in front of what might be their shop on a Main Street in Warsaw, some unusual funeral-type pictures, and one that was very small, but different - it was a photo of 2 girls posing on either side of a person dressed in a bear costume - faces only were visible - I wondered if it was a mascot for a sports team - no writing on most of the pictures - and what writing was penciled in was in Polish, so no telling what it would reveal. I'll put that on my 'to do' list, so I can share them with you.

You've got talent. That's for sure. Hey, my husband and his family are Polish too. His mother was from Wisconsin.

Hi ... Thank you for visiting my Southern Lagniappe blog and for taking the time to leave a comment. I'm so glad it led me to your blog.

I love your old signs and pictures, and enjoyed the story about your visit with your neighbor. I'm sure she's very lonely and scared, and I know your visits mean a lot to her.

I'll be back to visit again soon.

Sincerely,

Janie

I too love those vintage signs and some that are not so vintage. Sometimes you can get a good laugh too. Like the 'you are here' sign you shared today. Good sense of humor and classy too. Big smile.

Have a fun day.

Hugs...Jeanne

Hello...

Just wanted to stop by to say thank you for your thoughtful visit and sweet compliments on my stained glass window...I would love to see the stained glass that your mother made especially for you!!!

I just love old signs!!! I also enjoy playing around with photo editing software...making color changes, etc! I just wanted to say that I read your last post...the story about your elderly neighbors! It was an interesting read! That was such a sweet thing for you to do...to check on your neighbor and what a blessing to meet such a dear lady!!! I bet she'd just love a plate of homemade cookies from you!!!

Warmest wishes,
Chari
