For this week, I have two projects that we started, but because of the power outage last week, they are not yet completed, but will be very soon.
The floor in our bathroom was desperately calling out to be saved from the pink color of ceramic tile that covered it. Mr. Wonderful removed the base boards first, and then the tile. He was thinking that tile removal would be difficult, but the person who installed them before we purchased the house did not glue them down correctly. They laid the tile in place, then put on the mortar. Since we have lived here, the tile has been cracking, and the mortar has chipped due to the moisture that bathrooms naturally have from time to time. It was relatively easy to pop out those tiles! We picked out some Congoleum to replace the tile. The picture above shows the base that the new flooring will be installed on. The nice little '+' signs would help in placement of any size of vinyl tiles or ceramic tiles as well, but we are putting in rolled vinyl and just need the new smooth surface sub-flooring.

The other project Mr. Wonderful was working on before the storm arrived is a hearth for the corn stove we got from some friends of ours. The stove is small, great for limited spaces. We only wish to heat a small area on the main floor, as the basement rooms are heated with the wood stove, and we will be shutting off the upper floor this winter to save on the cost of heating, since there is only the 2 of us...makes the most sense. The picture below is the corn stove. Mr. Wonderful will need to install the pipes that vent it to the outside and the cold air return. The hearth will be unique, as he is going to design it himself. The base, as you can see, is built. He plans to build a section that will attach to the wall behind the stove. This will be great for ease of cleaning. Thanks for stopping by today, and please remember to leave a comment before you leave each GET R DONE FRIDAY participant! Link on below:

Your wood burning stove will come in handy this Winter especially if we get all of the snow that my local weatherman is calling for! I've heard that some people cook on top of those types of stoves. I'm not sure if yours is like that or not but it would be worth looking into. I can't wait to see what Mr. Wonderful does to the hearth!

Your bathroom looks great! I need to Jazz up my master bath but it won't happen anytime soon!

I wish I had a get r done project this week but I don't. Sorry!

Hugs,
Angela

Totally love the wood burner...and (giggle) the worm batroom is not coming out bad at all either! After all NOT EVERYONE can make such a beautiful space from a worm box...although I still think it is a denture box....for a big smiling clown! I am glad you and Mr. Wonderful r ok after the storm...and your "camping" post was fun...HAPPY GET R DONE FRIDAY!

We used to use a wood burning stove, used it for years and loved it. DH was young enough to cut the wood and boy did it save on heating. We haven't used it in several years, but looks like we may have to go back to using it.
I love yours, it is so cute. Can't wait to see the finished flooring. We are scheduled to have our flooring put down Thurs yay, so maybe I'll have that to show next Fri.

I've said it before, and will say it again...your really do have a Mr. Wonderful. And so handy!
What a keeper!
The place where I get my hair cut has a corn burner stove, and it works wonderfully well. It's always so nice and warm in there in the winter time. Funny too, it's called the Log Cabin...Designs at the Cabin is the name of the shop. It used to be a restaurant, my fav for breakfast when I first moved here, and popular with big butt farmers at 6am. Anyway, the building is sided and looks like a log cabin. Now, you'll have a corn stove for your own log cabin, in the woods.
Bathroom's looking great!
