Time for "Show and Tail"!

Come on now, it's time for Tuesdays' Show & Tail' over at Angela's West Virginia Treasures! If you have a cute pet to show off, or any furry (or non-furry) friend, you are welcome to join in her new meme! Check her blog for the rules, post away, and link with Mr. Linky over THERE when you are ready!
The picture above is one of my Pembroke Welsh Corgis (I have 4 of them!) - her name is Prairie Princess...aka Prairie Dog! Look at those eyes!! Isn't she a beauty? We adopted her from a family who brought her to us (nearly a 2 hour drive, I believe) looking for a perfect re-homing situation for her. They had moved into a smaller house in a new town, and Prairie was a challenge for them in that situation. She made a great country Corgi, but in the city, it was not working out so well for them or for her.

Prairie can be a challenge, but a delightful one. She has an amazing herding instinct - she constantly tries to haul me out the door with her in the morning by nabbing onto my pant leg, tugging and dragging me, if I'm not quick enough with a reprimand! She likes to herd the other Corgis, and will make sure they are out of the house, then she'll slip back inside and scoop up any kibble that might have gotten overlooked when the breakfast bowls were filled (or consumed). She is pitifully thin, don't you think?

Being a photography subject on many of my paper products, we have to keep her looking good. I never know when I'll need a new snap shot of her for a project I'm working on, like the blog headers that are changed every now and then. She gets crabby when she poses, and it can be difficult to keep her attention at times. The other day, Classy Chassy (my etsy shop) got an order for Prairie's recipe cards to be shipped to Norway - how COOL is THAT!!! My new customer visited this blog during our convos on etsy, too, and if she happens to pop in to read this post, I want to express a big thanks once again for her order, because it allows me to help Lakeshore Corgi Rescue with a percentage of the sale. She said the recipe card sets were going to be used for their Corgi Club's yearly lottery....I neglected to ask if a 'lottery' was a raffle drawing? I am assuming it must be something like that, but how wonderful - Prairie Princess will have her picture on recipe cards overseas!

Even with those innocent eyes, Prairie can be a little stinker! I used to think it was a myth that dogs bury bones in the yard, as none of the dogs I've owned in the past have ever done such a silly thing. One morning I noticed Prairie up on the couch pawing at a throw pillow. She was vigorously intent on moving it. And then I saw the awful truth - - - she was trying to hide a rawhide bone from the other Corgi 'son of a guns'! When I foiled that attempt, she ran downstairs into our bedroom, in the back of our open closet door, and got yet another rawhide bone from behind the laundry basket, headed towards our bed - and tried to slide it underneath the foot board! She didn't want ANY of those evil Corgis to find her 'stash'!

We truly love her very much - she has quite a way about her, you can't help but be drawn to her beauty and personality. We are so thankful that we were allowed to add her to our happy home. It's a Corgi Crazy House, that's for sure!

Prairie Princess sure is a beautiful corgi! She sounds like a she is a real hoot to be around. That is sooooo exciting that your recipe cards with her on them are going to be in a lottery in Norway! That is really cool! Makes me wonder if corgi's are a popular breed over there????

You've got to love her sneaky way of hiding her treats around your house! lol

Thanks for joining in and inviting others to this weeks Tuesdays' Show & Tail!

Hugs,
Angela

She is so pretty.

I think she's lucky, too, because strong-minded dogs like she is often end up in the pound, and few have the smarts or patience to handle them. I think you've saved so very many animals, both directly and with your good advice about ways to train and control them.

Oh WHEW! When I saw "show of tail" I thought it was going to be a bunch of women showing off their backsides!

Hehehehehehehehe

For a minute there I got confused. I thought you had, somehow, taken my corgi, Carl, and were talking about him. But no..., he's here, sleeping on the floor next to me.
These dogs are a force to be reckoned with. But..., they are worth all the trouble they get into.
They are dogs with a purpose and we just have to help them find it.

Thanks for the pictures of Prairie Dog. She's beautiful!

What is not to love with a face like that. Isn't it amazing the wonderful dogs that come into our lives as a result of the original family not wanting them any longer. Both you and this girl have hit the jackpot.

Well, I think she's looking at you and saying - I'll do this, but hurry up - I'd rather be playing.

She is beautiful!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for your lovely comments on Prairie Princess! Her former owners really DID want to keep her, as evidenced by the time it took to deliver her to us! They wanted to be sure I was not a scammer who would sell their pet to medical science or some other chamber of horrors that exists in the world today! They were simply doing what was best for their family and for Prairie at that point in time. Unfortunately, life circumstances do change, especially in this economy today. We can no longer count on things that used to be a 'given' - ie: government jobs are secure jobs...Work for GM and you are set for life! You know what I mean. It just does not work that way any more, and we do what we have to, just to get by sometimes. Prairie was loved, and a dream come true for her owner, and now, she's a dream come true for us as well! Our Corgis are all loved and cherished for the individuals that they are!

We sure did love our little Prairie and felt very confident that your house was WAY better for her! Sometimes finding a new home for a pet is not as it seems, sometimes it is like an open adoption.... The first parents love the baby so much that they choose to let someone else raise her. Prairie is an amazing dog who is loved by many! I am so glad to hear all the "tails" of her new life in Corgi Heaven. Thank you!

Oooo .... isn't it funny how smart they are, and have US trained? Lovin' the Prairie Princess and all of her foibles. All the best stars have a little drama in their life, don't you think?
Hugs and have a super duper day!
Betty :)
