Don't cry over Spilt Egg!

Our Thanksgiving Weekend gave us much to be thankful for as we looked over the calendar year, and years past. We were blessed to have our oldest son and his family join us again to share the tastey BBQ Turkey prepared by Mr. Wonderful - it has been a staple every Thanksgiving Day since he and I first met! This year, it was tweaked up a big, by happy accident, because the only charcoal available was Mesquite or Hickory Smoke - I chose the Hickory - and it added a little unexpected ZING to the blending of flavors at the feast - very yummy!

Being a "Grammy" has its perks - although I wish it didn't have to be long distance most of the time. My oldest son lives in Illinois, and his brother and family live in Wisconsin (they couldn't join us on THE DAY, but plan to visit in a few more weeks). These two cute kids shown in the picture above were a joy to spend time with! They could not wait to do chores with 'Grammy"! Feeding the CORGIS, Suzy and the chickens, and collecting eggs each day with the kids made normal chores seem like such BIG FUN! The delight on their faces when running into the house carrying blue and brown eggs was something to see - and even the OOPS, when "little man" dropped an egg on the floor in his rush to get his shoes off inside the house - was a bit humorous - even though he was difficult to console after he had burst into tears! Please don't cry over 'spilt egg'!
Everyone got a ride on Suzy - even "Little Man"! We didn't know if he would care for a ride up so high, but he was delighted, and didn't want to get off! We had only hoped for a photo of him in the Australian saddle hanging on to the "Mickey Mouse Ears" (each ear is called a poley - they hold the rider in the saddle going up and down steep hills in the wilderness). Mom and Dad got a ride around the yard and down the lane as well. My daughter-in-law learned to lead Suzy too, and we were proud of her for stepping up to the plate and walking the horse for rides when I was too bushed from going up and down that lane a zillion times! She's a real trooper, and will try new things as an example for the kids to follow.
The weekend brought many smiles as "Little Man" (he was the DOCTOR!) announced that when anyone got 'an owwie', they only needed a sticker and some candy to make it ALL BETTER! Now that they are back to their Illinois home, there's no one to give "Grammy" a sticker and candy...I sure am missing them! But, in a few more weeks, the Wisconsin grand-kids will hopefully be able to join us!

Being a grandmother has to be the BEST time of my life! Spending time with the little ones is magical. Like you, I have one son who lives a good 6 hours away. We did get to see him and his family this last holiday. Thankfully, my other son lives in town and I get to cuddle the boys as much as I'd like☺

Hey Monica!

Glad to hear that you had a wonderful visit with your son and his family! I'm sure the corgis and Suzy are missing the kids as well. I'm sure that your grand babies will Treasure their time spent with you during the Holidays when they get older too!

I've never had turkey on the grill either. Did Mr. Wonderful cut it up or cook it whole?

Hugs,
Angela

Well, I am so glad to see some pictures. You look like a spring chick!

Your grandkids are adorable and I know you must miss them. How cute they loved to help you and give you sugar and a bandaide.

Nice looking son and DIL too.

Hope your other son and his family make it there.
