Tuesdays' Show and Tail - Another HOT DOG!

It's time for Tuesdays' Show & Tail' over at Angela's West Virginia Treasures! If you have a cute story and picture of a pet, or any furry (or non-furry) friend, you are welcome to join in! Check her blog for the rules, post away - and thanks, Angela, for being our host!
HOT DOG! Another Corgi! This is Sissy, my "senior" corgi. We adopted her from a family that had this to say in their ad: "We can no longer provide her with the attention she deserves". When she came to us, she was the saddest Corgi I had ever laid eyes on - there were no smiles, no emotion. She would not eat, would not drink - and her eyes had a vacant look to them. I was told she had food aggression issues, but she showed no interest in eating. She could hardly walk up or down the stairs - I had to carry her. She had no 'oomph' to get into the car, no interest in life.

I let her settle in and figure out the lay of the land, when meals were served - anything to get her more comfortable in this new situation. The following evening, I had a look inside her mouth - it was shocking - her gums were swollen and bright red! She hadt horrendously bad breath, too! I made a vet appointment for "Gramma", as she was nick named, had her teeth scaled, shots given, and after an examination, the vet reported a bad urinary tract infection that took several courses of antibiotics to clear it up. I had noted blood in her urine, and that was the tip off to me to include that in the health concerns when I brought her in.
After a month of living in our Corgi-filled household, Sissy lost some weight and became more physically fit. She was smiling and jumping and playing with the other dogs, and showed interest in life again! It is a delight to bring her on car rides - she places her front paws up on the running board of the Jeep, and I hoist her up the rest of the way so she can sit in the front passenger seat, knowing she truly belongs!

I am glad you adopted Sissy. Those dumkopfs that had her, GRRRRRRRRR...gosh I just see red when I think about it. Well she sure has a happy life with you now. You really are a special gal.

Your Sissy looks so much like our Mist used to. She definitely doesn't look happy in the hot dog outfit so we got to see her upset face, but that huge smile is just priceless in the second pic. I'm so glad to hear that she is healthy and happy now! She is a very beautiful little girl!

What cuties! Our Ben is now having chronic issues with ear, eye and skin problems...typical Cocker issues but he's a senior citizen now. We just take it a day at a time. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
