My Rock Garden - Any Green Out Here?

Things are considering greening up a bit. I worked outside for a while yesterday, as the temp turned to about 56 degrees. And, a riddle for you - an easy one, I promise! Here goes:
Q: When is a rock...NOT a rock...?
A: When it's a TURTLE!
Okay - pretty stupid riddle, I know! But I was certainly surprised while taking a break from raking a few leaves. I took a 'breather' and heard a rustling noise from our woods, and when I saw the leaves actually begin to move, I went to investigate, and found a lovely large turtle! Headed north, like all the turtles seem to do around here. South is the direction of the nearest water, so I'm a bit confused (or maybe the turtles around here are confused?).
A nice sized specimen, I will say. I posed him several times, but he refused to show his face, until I left the area. As soon as I returned with my camera, he tucked himself into his house once more.
Not very sociable, is he??

Below - a few shots of our kitchen re-do in progress - the counter top is mostly gone...the countertop guy never showed, so Mr. Wonderful decided to do it himself with materials bought from a Big Box store.
Whoops - Homer is hanging on for dear life - just like I am in this mess! I'm sure it will be another week before the laminate we ordered comes in! I know I'll live through this, and it will be another big dream come true once its all completed!!!

You sure are brave picking up that turtle Monica! I don't know that I have ever touched one before. City girl who moved to the country! lol I do love looking at them though. Good thing my Little Man didn't find it! lol I think your turtle is a she! The boys have a curved body underneath and the girls are flat. That one looked flat in the picture.

Your countertop will look wonderful once it gets all finished! Hang in there Homer! It won't be much longer!

Hugs,
Angela

Can't say I'd pick up the turtle myself, but he sure was a beauty of a turtle.

Remodeling is so stressful, but hang on to the goal! You're almost there. Then you will be thrilled. Can't wait to see the pictures.

Remodeling can be trying on the nerves. I was just wondering the other day why I haven't seen a turtle in years. I wish they'd come call my pond home. Would drive the dogs crazy!

I love finding turtles in our yard, ChiChi really tries to act tough and bark at them, until they start moving and she runs like a chicken...I know you are excited about your new kitchen redo. When DH did ours about 9 yrs ago, he gutted it... floors, walls everything, it took 3 mos to get it finished, I didn't think I was going to survive, but I did.
Can't wait to see pictures of it when it's done.
