Dutch Barnevelder Name Suggestions - - -

My new pullets need some names. REAL Dutch names because of their Dutch Heritage. A relative of mine said she knew a few Dutch ladies, and would see what she dig up for me. Well, she phoned this evening with 2 suggestions. The first was Matje (pronounced "Macha"). I'm okay with that one. Unusual, but might be easily remembered after a few days. The second name suggestion was Fokija (Pronounced "Fuckya"). Again, unusual, AND VERY easy to remember.... but I'm not so sure about that one. Any other suggestions out there would be welcomed!!!

Oh my! I wouldn't name a hen of mine that name at all!

I had one named Ester Sue but she was a white hen. I don't know any dutch names. I'll have to think on it and get back to you with a good name for your hens!

Hugs,
Angela

Love the idea of the dutch names - but I'm empty - I'd have to Google them and find out! Absolutely beautiful bird!!

I'm back! hehehe Gotta get a few good names for those new girls!

I'm partial to this one. ANGELIEN: Dutch form of Latin Angelina, meaning "angel, messenger."

I'll be back when I find a good name for the next one!

Hugs,
Angela

FOKIJA? Are you kidding me? I think it lost something in translation.
How about...
Wilhelmina
Johanna (my personal favorite; it was my grandma's name.)
Lijsbet
Annika
and Abigail.
Have fun....

Oh dear, I think I'd leave the "F" word for those who cuss, wouldn't you?

Have you tried googling for some Dutch names?

You made me giggle this morning! I don't have any Dutch names to offer but when I was a kid our little dog was "Blackie" not a good name to call out and be politically correct! She was black though, no changing that!
