Welcome to my little garden in the woods - a project completed because of the Great Garden Clean-up Challenge I had with my friend Angela of West Virginia Treasures fame! When you have a big project to do, and you are uninspired because of heat, pressing chores, or pure procrastination, what better way to get it completed than by doing it with a friend! Angela and I live in different states, but we didn't let THAT stop us! 
Here is my "BEFORE" photo. Hard to tell there is any type of garden or thought put into this space shown above. It was (and still is) Mosquito Heaven. I hate when they screech their buzzy noises around my ears, and I REALLY hate being bitten by those little vampires!
I put in 5 bags of cedar mulch, and I really could have used a 6th one, but I "made-do" with what I had bought. Too hot and miserable to run back to the store today.
I planted 2 hostas in with the other plants already living in this little area. It gets mostly shade, so the hostas will thrive, but it is also partly sunny, so perhaps next spring I'll add a couple of other flowering perennials to the mix.

You did a fantastic job girl! That was a lot of work you did in your garden. It looks absolutely beautiful! Your hostas will love it there. They will fill out really big next year and get shoots of flowers on them.

That's what it takes, one area at a time. You did a super job, and it looks like plenty of mulch to me. I haven't gotten any this year, because it has rained so much. I imagine I should be getting some soon, as August could be hot and dry.
