For today's Friday posting, I have a 'guest crafter', my GD Vivian, who is visiting us in Michigan this week. Viv loves to craft! She is also lucky enough that while she is visiting us, her parents are re-painting her bedroom, and creating a loft bed for her! She had in mind a tree house theme, and what goes with tree houses? Birds and Squirrels!
We stopped at a Junk Store, and found an old bird house that someone had painted. We decided we could do a better job, so we bought it for a 'song', and while we were there, we also picked up a ceramic squirrel statue for GRANDMA to re-do! Big fun! See original bird house below:
And, now, see Vivian with the bird house that SHE re-painted! Very UP-Beat, don't you think??
First, she spray painted it brown, and let it dry. Next, she chose some bright and funky colors - all acrylic paints that dry ever so quickly! It needed some touching up where the brown showed through, so that was done the next day. But it sure looks great!
I painted the stone to the left, and the squirrel to the right of the bird house. There's no picture of the squirrel before we painted her, but she was a plain old brown, nothing special about her, really, except her POTENTIAL! See Pictures below:

The stone I painted was nice and smooth, a great oval shape! I BELIEVE that we had a great time doing crafts together in the evenings, and I do hope we can do this kind of visit again next year - Hooray for Camp Grandma! YES!

Vivian is even cuter than the repainted bird house, and that's pretty stinkin' cute!!!!

I'd love to come to camp grandma too!

Looks like you are giving her a priceless gift - to carry on crafts and have a love for them - a living legacy.

They all turned out so cute! They'll look great in her new room. I'm so glad that she's "crafty" like Grandma!

Your GD is a real cutie and a very talented crafty lady. I love what you did with the squirrel and her bird house, but the memories you made with her will be her real treasure.
Great job.

lovely birdhouse and the stone looks beautiful.

dougal is doing fine now. He is still slightly tilted but the ear infection seems to have cleared up. He is happy and running around normally again with the brother. Thanks for asking.

Your projects are wonderful and Vivian looks happy with the results!
