My granddaughter, Vivian, and I made plans to pick strawberries at Krupp Farms, which is about 12 miles from my house. When we drove by the farm, a large sign said "Next Pick - Wed. 7 A.M." You had better believe that after reading that sign, Vivian was wide awake at 6:45 A.M.! We did the animal feeding chores, let the Corgi Girls out for their morning constitutional, then she and I headed out to Krupp Farms for picking some flavorful Michigan berries!
We arrived there to join other berry lovers - the price was right - just $1.00 per pound! They showed us which row to start on, and the berries were HUGE! It took only an hour for us to gather 24 pounds of berries! We didn't sample any till they were bought and paid for, but we sure had to try a couple on the ride home!
The humidity was high, and we had some iced tea when we got back to the house. Right now we are ready to do some serious washing and preparing the strawberries for the freezer - but we do plan to reserve some for a bedtime snack snack tonight! Strawberry Fields FOREVER! YEAH!

Wow, you two are good berry pickers to get so much so quickly!
Now comes the "hulling" -- *sigh* Put on some good music to make it go faster!
Isn't it so much fun picking berries with the Grands. I enjoyed everything but the heat, water was a must in the 90 something degree weather. But as you say it is such a treat.
Wish I'd went to LA to pick strawberries this year, it's too late now.

Michigan has a great fruit belt!
Those are dandy looking berries, shortcake tonight!!
Those strawberries are HUGE! I'm so glad you're having a great time. I wonder who's going to be more worn out at the end of the week?
What a blessing to be able to spend time with your grand-daughter doing something that is so much fun!
Some of the strawberries the farmers grown now ARE huge, and the ones that come from around the Coast are just so sweet! I've still got some that I froze at the end of last summer, and I love to throw the frozen ones in the blender with some yogurt and make smoothies out of them!!! GOOD SNACK! Linda (OC's Mom)
I love strawberries and they are so good for you.
I am sure you know that if you use a straw on the bottom and push up the stem and leaf remove easily.
Your granddaughter is a lucky girl and you seem like you have a wonderful grandaughter.
I love strawberry picking, even though it is back-breaking! Especially getting all of those berries hiding under the leaves. We have a strawberry farm about 1/2 hour away. I think this week is the last to pick. I'd better get a move on!
