Such a pretty child, Joanna! Look at that smile, and the abundance of colorful leaves! Her mother is a woman of many talents, and I've offered to list some of her crochet work in my newest etsy shop, Dark Horse Primitives. Joanna is only one of Misty and Dan's 10 children. They live in a tiny well-kept home about 30 minutes drive from my small town. When I was invited to a family gathering at my sister's house, I was amazed at how well behaved each child was - no fighting, no complaining, no arguing - a miracle in 2009! Their parents deserve a pat on the back for their parenting skills.
Misty works part time outside of her home, and enjoys knitting and crochet work as a relaxing hobby. She is very skilled at her craft, wastes nothing, and when she talks about her projects, her eyes sparkle! Current listings include strips of handmade lace which can be used to finish pillowcases or add to garment hems. She showed me a pair of her jeans with ecru lace added - a really spiffy "retro- hippy" look! Adorable! I think the lace would look unique to trim out fingerless gloves for a fancy evening out on the town - there are so many uses for her creations.
Mantillas and chapel caps are also items that she makes, as their church and God are so important in their lives and the way they bring up their children. I've offered to take the chapel caps to a local religious store which will be offering them on a consignment basis for Misty. But one beautifully designed veil has been listed in Dark Horse Primitives, as I think the pattern is particularly gorgeous and needs to be seen and appreciated by as many people as possible.
We are hoping for sales of her laces, and other upcoming items, as the extra income will help during tight times. (She does take special requests for lengths and thread colors, too, by the way!) Her husband is finishing up schooling at a local college at this point in time, and we all know what the job market is these days - the outlook isn't too pretty for recent grads with no experience in their chosen fields. We wish them the best in this tough economy. Please visit my shop, and leave a comment for Misty - I'll be sure to pass them on to her!

What an absolute cutie!
beautiful lace and what a precious child!! I have doilies and such from my Mom and Grandma that have lace. you don't see it much anymore.
Do you realize what a good thing you are doing for this young lady. I think it's wonderful when we can do one small thing for someone and have it make a difference in their lives.
