Get Away Weekend!

We are back from our long weekend get-away...a scenic autumnal drive to Northern Michigan was a real treat! The colors were glowing the farther north we drove....Shanty Creek Resort was our destination, and it exceeded our expectations. This was a special event sponsored by Mr. Wonderful's employer - the company was celebrating 65 years in business, and handed out awards to employees who had been with the company 5, 10, 20, 25 and 30 years. The Awards Banquet was very nicely done - great food and drink. The speeches were not boring, and even I, who do not work for them, found it interesting to learn about the beginnings of their medical supply business, and enjoyed looking at the early black and white pictures on the screen display. All rooms had spectacular views, but scenes from the main lodge were the best! We drove down some 'unimproved' Michigan roads (aka "2-Tracks"). There were lots of surprises, and many small waterways.

Back to civilization, and time to go home on Sunday....we were sad to leave, but always happy to return home to our pets. And a wondrous surpirse awaited us as we walked in our door....PINK BABY HAS ARRIVED!!! Cuddled up in a warm 'throw', she has her bedtime treat and is ready for her week-long adventures in Michigan!!!

Hey Chief!

I'm glad you and Mr. Wonderful had a great time on your getaway! I don't know why but those pictures sure are relaxing! Love the Autumn colors of Michigan!

We wanted to get away to Canaan Valley this weekend but since my husband had been out of town all week we decided not to go.

Hugs,
Angela

Very pretty pictures, that is my kind of weekend. I love to just get out and drive the back roads.
Thanks for sharing, I hope to some day make it up that way.

What a lovely place to visit. The company chose a very nice spot for their meeting. Glad you and husband got to go and have a good time.

It sure is pretty up there. But I would be scared to go up there during the actual winter!!! I guess it gets pretty snowy.

Some of the trees in your pictures are turning such a lovely red it hardly looks real! What a rare sight.

So glad that you two had a little getaway...you're always working on something, or tending, so it's good to read that you two had some fun, and saw something new. I love the UP, and it's been ages since we've gone uppa.
Pink Baby is there???? Cool!!!
