Tuesday's Show and Tail

Thanks to our host, Angela, for this great new meme - Everyone is welcome to link in at West Virginia Treasures, to show off your pets and other animal friends! This is French Frye - "Frenchy", for short. She is a hamster that was found in an unusual circumstance by my niece's boyfriend...he was out jogging, and came across a very "UN"-Happy Meal Box wrapped inside of a sweater. He didn't know what type of critter it was, and to make a long story short, my niece brought Frenchy to me, to see if I could fix what ailed her.Frenchy has some abscesses, which, in hamsters, can be caused by a simple cut or scratch to the skin. The cut can become infected in just the right conditions (unclean cage, germs, etc.) She has an infection in one leg that looks pretty bad, and the inside of her ears seem to be infected as well, with another abscess that appears to have opened and drained repeatedly. Poor Frenchy! She does have the will to survive, and so I took on her case - she is currently in Quarantine, in the Special Needs Unit, for the time being. She has been bathed, abscesses lanced and treated. Miss Frye is eating and drinking well - the beverage of choice is a specially prepared antibiotic tea. We don't know if she will make it, but we are hopeful, and so, we do what we can to help her regain her health and vitality. Say a prayer for Frenchy Frye, please!

And now, please return to our hostess to see who else has posted animal pictures and tales today!

Thanks so much for joining in again this week! Oh, I feel so sorry for Frenchy. Gee, I wonder what kind of life Frenchy must have had before you rescued her. I've said a prayer for her and for you to know how to take care of her as I know nothing about hamsters at all. Did you take her to a vet? Or did you just know how to take care of her?

Now, that is sad to hear. How awful that the poor thing was let get in that condition and just discarded. But what a blessing that you took her in and at least now she has love and kindness shown to her and healthful things and a chance for a bit more of a decent life.

Oh, that poor sweet thing! She's so lucky to have an angel like you to nurse her back to health!! I did say a little prayer for Frenchy, I hope she gets better soon.
I wanted to say too, your header brought such a smile to my face! I made a card one year for Christmas with my Corgi wearing a Santa hat, so cute.
