Tuesday's Show and Tail - Shades of Gray

It's time for Tuesdays' Show & Tail' over at Angela's West Virginia Treasures! If you have a cute story and picture of a pet, or any furry (or non-furry) friend, you are welcome to join in! Check her blog for the rules, post away - and thanks, Angela, for being our host!
Last week I posted pictures of this wonderful creature we discovered in our little forest - I first noticed it 4 years ago, and after looking it up, discovered it is called a Gray Tree Frog (Hyla versicolor)!

It is a small frog, 1-2 inches in size, and is a brownish-gray or green color, depending on where you live. The inner thighs are bright yellow or orange. It has a roughly textured skin, marked kind of like a snake - strikingly beautiful! It speaks in a loud resonating trill. Found in forested areas with small trees or shrubs that are close to water, or under loose bark on trees, tree cavities, or in rotting logs during summer, it is seldom seen on the ground, although we have spotted them near our house hopping around (usually the BABY ones! So sweet!) The first one we found was on our deck post, outside the French Doors. It left that afternoon, but returned the next day. I was thrilled, and posed this frog in many photos, then released it!
Additional information: Attaches up to 2000 eggs to vegetation in shallow water. Hibernates under tree roots or matted leaves. Often confused with spring peepers.

Hop on back to Angela's, to read her post about her dogs and pet food quality, and to see who else is posting today!

So sweet! Sorry you had trouble reading the post at GrannyMountain. I was messing around with my template...dangerous activity for unexperienced blogger like me! Anyway I think I reset the colors right again. Please let me know how it looks on your end. Thanks for coming to visit, I wish I had the time to read and look more but my days just aren't long enough!

Hey Monica!

What a stunning looking Gray Tree Frog that you have living there by your house. I really don't think I've seen one of those around my house but it looks like I would need to look a lot closer for the little guy than what I do!

Thanks for showing us this little creature that God made and sharing all of that informative information about him. I sure hope that you continue to see those little beauties for many years to come!
