I'm joining in on Tuesday's Show & Tail at Angela's West Virginia's Treasures. If you have a cute story and picture of a pet, or any furry (or non-furry) friend, you are welcome to join in! Check her blog for the rules, post away - and thanks, Angela, for being a great hostess!
Despite the woolly coat, this curly cutie bears no relation to sheep. In fact, it's a rare breed of pig called mangalitza, and when three of these little piggies showed up at a zoo in Essex, they caused quite the commotion among visitors who couldn't decide quite what they were.
The mangalitzas weren't just brought in to look cute (although they're doing a darn good job of it anyway). They were procured to be educational, and to help ensure the breed's survival. Zoo education coordinator reported, "We've got them here as part of a breeding program to make sure this fascinating breed does not become extinct." The breed originated in Hungary, and the haircoat protects against sunburn as well as flies and other biting insects.
Can you just imagine how cute the baby porkers would be??? ADORABLE!!! To find out more info, just google "pig sheep" and see the pictures and videos that come up!
Oops - disregard the picture above...it's my mistake! (Sorry about that, Angela! tee hee!)
Have a great day -

You're too funny Monica! Are you trying to say taht Jazz looks like a little piggy sheep! hehehe
Those pigs in a blanket sure are cute! They almost look like something made up don't they! Who would have thought a pig could look like a sheep.
Thanks for sharing such an interesting post for today's TS&T!
Tuesdays' Show & Tail!

I thought right away that they looked like corgis! Same shape, same type of legs! He hee!
Oh MY, Jazz... You need to have a discussion with your Mom! Putting a beautiful picture of you in a blog about PIGS!!! Now REALLY?!?
Also, Jake and Addie, you need to nip your Corgidogmama for saying you resemble these porkers! At least MY Mom didn't say it out loud!!! OC
I saw these on TV last night, and thought, "Now THERE is something I've never seen or heard of!" Aren't they interesting looking? I wonder, though, if they would get hot in warm climates? They almost make you want to pet them, but regular pigs have such coarse hair, I think I'd rather just imagine that they are soft and not disillusion myself. Linda
I have my own little "Piggie," his name is Ben and it's about time for him to do a post for me...
Come see your award...I felt you deserve it.... love your blog...
That is the cutest little piggie story I have seen or heard in awhile. I am proud you won the oven pull. That is a handy thing to have. I am going to be doing a chicken post soon and will let you know.
