104 Years Ago - Lost Film

You are there for a cable car ride in San Francisco in 1906. This film was
"lost" for many years. It was taken by camera mounted on the front of a cable car.

The number of automobiles is staggering for 1906. Absolutely amazing! The
clock tower at the end of Market Street at the Embarcadero Wharf is still
there. ... How many "street cleaning" people were employed to pick up
after the horses? Talk about going green!

Here's the Earthquake in 1906 - same clock tower, later date.

That is amazing Monica! To see how busy it was back then. Loved seeing how people dressed back then. The man in the suit riding a bike you wouldn't see that in todays times at all. Plus the amount of those cable cars that were on the same road at one time.

Thanks for sharing that with us!

Isn't this an amazing old piece of film. I had seen the first video but not the "after the earthquake" one. I know this street well and have been in some fairly big quakes here because I grew up in the area, but I sure hope we don't have another one like this. I have too many friends and family in and near this beautiful city.
It would be a disaster like no other with so many people living there now. It makes me shutter to think of it.

I was shocked at the amount of people in this town...and the building were big for 104 years ago. That was a eye opener. They had all kinds of transportation to. Trish
