Vintage Thingie Thursday-- Remember When?

Thanks to Colorado Lady for the great job in hosting Vintage Thingie Thursday - please visit her blog to join me and others who are showing off their vintage items today!

Here are some great vintage signs - they may bring back memories for those old enough to 'Remember When'...I forgot where I spotted the Pabst Wonder Cheese sign, but there was a short blurb about Pabst Brewery Co. loosing money during Prohibition days (I wonder WHY?!?), so they turned to selling cheeses during those years. Interesting, don't you think? Later, I read the product was kind of pasty and not like real cheese at all, but a good rescue for a company whose real product became illegal at that time!

Have a great day, and don't forget to come back to join me tomorrow, for GET R DONE FRIDAY, where I will be showing pictures of the project bathroom, completed!

I totally remember some of those signs...certainly the radiation/bomb shelter sign-growing up in NYState, they were everywhere and we had regular, jump under your desk or line up in the hall hiding your eyes, nuclear war drills too!

I do remember seeing the fallout shelter signs.
We used to sit under our desks in catholic school disaster drills!
Ohhh, the 50's, those were the days!

Oh, what funny signs! Signs of the times, indeed! I remember ol' Elsie!

That Pabst "cheese" product sounds absolutely ghastly. You'd need a shot of BOOTLEG WHISKEY to dare to eat it!!!

I remember all those signs myself - except the cheese one.

Cracker Barrel has a lot of those signs too.

I love all of the signs, especially Elsie the Cow, but I think my favorite is the Mobilgas one, because my uncle owned a Mobil gas station when I was little, and I would play with the pumps and drink alot of Orange Crush soda, from a bottle!

I have always wanted an old sign to put in my kitchen or laundry room....you can find reproductions, but I want an original...and one I can afford...so far, I have not found one. I really like the phone and Else the cow.

Have a great VTT!

Oh dear, I DO remember some of these... I especially recall the fallout shelter one... those things were all over the schools, weren't they? Yikes. It's amazing any of us came thru the Cold War years sane, and not ducking under our desks every time it thunders.

Thanks -- never knew about Pabst and cheese, that's a riot!
