It's time for Vintage Thingie Thursday!!! Visit Coloradolady's blog to participate, or to see who else is showcasing their vintage items today!
The item I have to display is a type of "art" found on boxes made of light wood - light in weight, light in wood tone. I have heard the art term described as "pyrography", but I'm not sure if this is the correct term or not. True or false, it is definately vintage!
The box is about 5 x 3 - haven't measured it yet, but the decoratives cover the sides and bottom as well as the inside lid and inside bottom. And, look at the little hinges, with the tiny nails! One nail is no longer there, but the hinges still work, and I love their design! (Leave it to the Corgi Clowns to get in the way- excuse her, PLEASE!)
I have seen these boxes marked "TIES", or "GLOVES", but never one marked "JEWELS"! So deliciously vintage! This box will soon be found in my etsy shop, along with other vintage items, if anyone is interested. What a treasure indeed! Thanks to Coloradolady for hosting Vintage Thingie Thursday, and - Dont FORGET to stop back here tomorrow for my GET R DONE FRIDAY meme! Blessings for a fabulous day!

What an adorable little box. Your photos are just as sweet as they can be too!
I think I might actually have a post for Get R Done Friday...if I can just get the photos in a post! I'll try, and I may combine it with my quilting post if you don't mind.
Have a great VTT!
I have a small collection of pyrography boxes and plaques. I'm not sure how the ones with the machine made designs were sold. Most of mine were the kind sold with printed patterns on them for hobbyists to burn themselves.
what a great box..thanks for sharing. happy VTT
Very interesting. I've seen boxes like this but didn't know about them. I've owned a wooden plate that had a design etched in it but where is it when I want to see it. Now I am going to check it out.
Cute model or should say models.
That is such a striking design! Like you, I've never seen one for Jewels.
Remember when wood-burning kits were all the rage? I wonder how many blistered fingers were created along with the art!
What a pretty jewelry box!
LOVE the box...and if I don't get off this puter I will never get to my get' r done friday! Ok...gotta go...check back at penniwigs though...I gave out more (giggle giggle) sassiness! Hugs...oh...and where has corgi gotten here glasses? I really need a pair of those!
My brother's had a woodburner, and made all sorts of interesting things, back in the late 50's.
Sigh~
Lovely little box, and such cute set ups for the photos~
Wonderful wooden jewelry box! Love the 3D glasses!
What a sweet box! I like that the design is also on the inside of the lid too. That's pretty unique!
You had a very interesting post today. The little box is so cute. I do not recall seeing one just like it. Thanks for visiting my post.

You sure do know how to take some cute and creative pictures! I'm going to have to give more thought to my picture taking process! lol
I think my mom has a little box similar to that one but it doesn't say anything on it. What a great little find!
Happy VTT!!!

Such a beautiful little box and I believe tiny bear loves it as well. How happy she seems to peer inside and to actually hold some of the jewels... well, it must have been wonderful for tiny bear. :)
Happy VTT and have a lovely weekend..
Oh... isn't it beautiful? I love the script and the hinges. I've never heard of that specific kind of woodwork, that's quite interesting.
What a cute, sweet post! I just love VTT and visiting everyone :)
Oh that box is so nice and I've never seen hinges like that. I can't tell from the pics if the design is carved into the wood or if it's some kind of wood burning technique but then I see that you called it pyro something so I would think that would be a burn etching method. Very nice and it can have so many uses.
Happy VTT!
Cathy
